How to Connect Jev to Claude in 5 Minutes (and What It’s Actually Good For)
Jev is TypeSafe’s new model that answers with probabilities instead of words. It can’t replace Claude, but it can make Claude faster, cheaper and harder to fool. Four setups, from zero code to Claude Code, plus five things to try first.
Every time you’ve written a prompt that ends with “respond only with valid JSON,” then written code to parse it, validate it, and retry when the model opened with a friendly sentence anyway, you were hiring a novelist to flip a light switch.
That’s the whole pitch behind Jev, the first model from TypeSafe AI, and it’s why my feed has been wall to wall Jev for a week. It launched on September 15 with a $40 million seed round led by DCVC, dropped the waitlist on September 20, and the founder, Diogo Almeida, previously worked on ChatGPT at OpenAI. Within days there were community plugins, MCP servers and connectors for every agent you can name.
This is the dead simple version: what Jev actually is, the one mistake almost everyone makes when they try to “connect it to Claude,” four setups that work, and five things worth asking it first.
