Fixing Untitled275.ipynb — Using Gen AI for organising your files

When I log into Google Colab I’m greeted with something a little terrifying -> the default file name is now up to untitled275.ipyb. This means I already have 274 untitled files. What exists within them is a complete mystery. I tend to use Google Colab as a scratchpad for quick coding tasks so its likely most of the untitled ones can be deleted -> but they might contain pure gold!

Fortunately, there’s now a better way to clean them up than individually exploring every file myself. Especially since the “untitled” element tells me nothing about what is going to be in the file!

We’re going to use Claude’s Cowork feature for this. This is a non-technical solution and will take minutes.

First I’ve downloaded my Google Colab folder from my Google One Drive.

Golden Rule
Make sure you are working with a copy of your files — not the originals, and definitely not the only version in existence!

Now we’re popping into Cowork on the Claude desktop app. I have Claude Pro for this.

I’ve pointed Claude Cowork at the folder containing my downloaded and unzipped Colab Notebooks. Best practice here is to point Claude at the folder containing only the things you’d like it to see and work with! Least trust is the principle here -> we give it what it needs and nothing more!
