The AI product image looks great. Check these four things before approving it.

Pretty. But correct? Two fictional skincare bottles illustrate why product details need review before image approval.

A beautiful ad can make a product harder to sell if the picture promises something the item does not have. A lid that opens differently, a pocket that does not exist or a bottle that looks twice its actual size can change what a buyer expects.

I work in creative production at AI Vidia, so I have a commercial interest in this subject. This article was prepared with AI assistance. The bottle and apparel examples below are hypothetical briefs, not client results.

For a consumer brand, product accuracy belongs in the brief and in the approval process. It should not be left to whoever notices a strange detail on their phone.

Start with the exact item you are selling

Put the current SKU, colour, size, packaging version and included parts in one reference sheet. Add approved front, side and open-product photographs where those views matter. A closed reference cannot show how a lid, clasp or zip works.

For a hypothetical 600 ml bottle, that sheet might identify a screw lid, a printed capacity statement, a particular finish and an approved care instruction. If a campaign includes three colours, treat each colour as its own reference set. Do not assume that correcting the black version fixes the others.

For apparel, use the actual garment to establish its seams, pockets, closures and fit. An attractive model image does not establish stretch, comfort or how the garment behaves during movement.

Four checks before the aesthetic review

Shape: Does the silhouette match? Look at the proportions, corners, neck, handle and garment cut. Check the scale in context, not just against a white background.

Parts: Are the right parts present and in the right state? A cap cannot be both attached and sitting on a desk. A shoe cannot gain a fastening that the reference does not have. If a hand hides the mechanism, ask whether the shot actually proves what the script says.

Label: Compare the printed words and artwork against the approved file. Check the version, pack size and count. Attractive but inaccurate lettering is still a product error.

Scale: Does the product look credible beside a hand or another known object? Perspective can change apparent size. If dimensions are essential to the buying decision, show a real scale reference or state the verified measurements.

Keep these checks separate from the questions about colour grading, composition and whether the scene feels on-brand. Both matter. They answer different approval questions.

A simple pass, repair or replace decision

Imagine a bottle image with the right finish and label but an extra handle. It fails product approval. The attractive setting does not cancel the mismatch.

The reviewer should record the exact defect, point to the reference and request one defined correction. The revised image then needs a fresh check across all four categories. A repair to the handle might change the lid.

If the chosen shot keeps failing the same physical requirement, switch the method. Keep the real product photograph and generate the surrounding scene, change the camera angle, or film that part. Repeating the prompt is not the only available production decision.

Check the export, not just the source image

A correct original can still become misleading after cropping, retouching or animation. Check the actual ad export. Does the crop hide a missing part? Does a reflection suggest a different material? Does the final frame make the pack size hard to read?

For video, review transitions and movement as well as the opening frame. The mechanism can change halfway through a clip. A single approved still does not approve the sequence.

Use a short review record: SKU, file version, defect, reference, correction requested, reviewer and decision. That gives the producer a specific next action and the brand a record of what was checked.

AI Vidia’s labelled product-accuracy demo shows a fictional reference pack and rejected frames. It is useful for seeing the check in practice, but it is not a real-product benchmark or human brand approval.

The useful question at sign-off is simple: Would someone buying this exact item recognize what arrives?
