So often introverts a told, “You need to be more extroverted”. But the same never applies to them! Why can’t extroverts be told, “You need to be more introverted”?

I know plenty of extroverts that could be a little more introverted, instead of expressing themselves to a point of other people’s frustration or annoyance.

Obviously it’s good for introverts to get out every now and then and socialise, but I like myself more when I’m not surrounded by a group of people.

I’m lucky enough to be in the middle where I’m happy to go out with a lot of people for a long time but also be happy spending days alone holed up in my room.

Why does liking people have to be compulsory?

I get annoyed that people place extroverts on a pedestal and make it out like the alternative is so much worse. I am much more productive when I’m on my own and it’s much easier to think. The less you go out, the more fun it’ll be when you do.

I find introverts are also a lot easier to be around. In my experience they have so much depth and personality and when you really get to know them, they’re so much fun to be around. This isn’t to say extroverts can’t have personality, I just find that they easily connect with lots of people whereas introverts connect really deeply with few people. Of course this isn’t a concrete rule and it’s broken many, many times. This is just what I’ve found.

From now on though I’ll always combat people saying, “you need to be more extroverted” with, “you need to be more introverted”.

If someone can be too introverted, someone can be too extroverted.
