Paula Lechten studied sociology and anthropology at Boston University and Northeastern University, grounding her work in an understanding of culture, inequality and change. A former fitness and racquet club owner, she now writes poetry and essays that confronts political and social injustice - seeking flashes of humanity in the struggle.

After a long hiatus from writing, she has picked up the pen in her retirement years.
