Definitely!
A classic example would be a husband who gets taunted and humiliated by his boss in front of everyone but says nothing.
Why?
Because he knows he has little power in that situation, and reacting could have consequences he can’t afford.
So, he controls his anger.
But when he comes home, especially in cases of abusive husbands, he takes that anger out on his wife and children because he knows they’re less likely to fight back or that he can get away with treating them that way.
It’s all about who we think can tolerate our behaviour and who we think we can get away with hurting.
But not everyone stops to reflect on this pattern or question their own behaviour.
And that’s what I appreciate about you, Leonard. You looked inward :)
I’m glad you reminded us that the people we love deserve our kindness, not the anger we’ve held back from everyone else.
Love love love! 🥹💚
