Jaylen Brown: Black Excellence Has Always Been A Threat to White Mediocrity
As a Black American Mother of 5 sons with 3 degrees, Army Veteran, 15-year career working as a Federal Contractor in the Information Technology field, then left Corporate America, built a six-figure business from the ground up, 20 acre land owner and building another business…Jaylen Brown, a man who shares the same name as my very intelligent eldest son, Jaylen, isn’t anything new.
The way my mind is set up (and, DESPITE, white supremacist ideology) Black people being EXCELLENT and AMAZING is OUR NORM.
White people didn't capture slaves.
They captured doctors, lawyers, princes, scientists…
They put my ancestors through hell, ensuring the strongest and brightest would be who survived the long voyages across turbulent seas in unspeakable conditions.
Then, my people had to survive centuries of hell in America with laws that forbade us to read, denied us a quality education, burned down our successful towns, studied us and lied and created pseudoscience to try to justify enslaving human beings as they, the white folk, struggled to find some form of superiority over my ancestors.
They didn't find it.
