when you think of time, what is your assumption ?

most of us think of it as a linked array (salute to my tech sweeties) . the past is behind us, the future is up ahead and the present is where we are standing .
well, the reason is that our minds are wired this way and can not accept any other definition of time.

but physics tells another story .

the truth is far different from what we believe and can comprehend :

all moments — yesterday, today, tomorrow- already coexist. you are not moving through time, you are simply experiencing one coordinate of a much bigger structure .

The universe is essentially a four dimensional object. a single entity that contains all events simultaneously.
in fact, we only feel the flow because our consciousness pictures it sequentially. that is how the brain processes time, but that is far from the truth .

lets make it even more interesting .

think of “now” for example. we think that all of us are experiencing the same “now” , the same present moment.

tho in physics, two people moving differently, experience different slices of time.

lets put it this way :
if one astronaut orbits earth at high speed for a year , they come back younger than everyone else . this is engineering . there is no single “ present moment” for the universe.
to be able to picture it more clearly, think of the reality as a mountain .

the peak : future , the valley : present and the cliff edge : past .

spacetime already contains every moment of your life, just like that mountain . you are never “becoming” , you are being , at different coordinates .

so why do you think we feel time “flowing” . like a sequence . the array we talked about ?

because our brain evolved a narrative engine. it threads moments into a continuous story . in other words, from the brain’s perspective : you remember the past, while you do not remember the future (duh) , so brain assumes one leads to the other .

But memory is not physics , we simply experience it sequentially because consciousness is built that way .

so… does the future actually exist ?

the answer is yes . you have not reached the part of the map that corresponds to that moment . meaning, that version of you — ten years from now — is already out there . don’t get me wrong here now . this is not like destiny or anything like it . spacetime does not force your subjective experience . your choices are part of the structure .

your decisions exist in spacetime, just as their outcomes (this is where you get flashbacks of that moment in the interstellar) .

so to make it short, free will is not destroyed, its just… embedded .

we do not live in time , we live as a part of spacetime . your past is still there, so is your future . your present is just the slice your consciousness is visiting .

and when you zoom out , the entire journey forms a single , beautiful shape : your life .
