Dealing with lunar curse in The Sims 4

Out of all the supernatural life states in The Sims 4, werewolves are the one I play the least.

It’s not that they’re uninteresting — far from it. In fact, they have some great mechanics: they can live indefinitely (like vampires), and their ability to sprint across the world at high speed is incredibly satisfying. But compared to other occults, werewolves feel… volatile.

Unstable. Unpredictable.

Most of their abilities tend to push social interactions in a negative direction, and managing Fury can quickly turn into chaos if you’re not careful. That’s why I’ve always seen werewolves less as a “power fantasy” and more as a curse — something to control, endure, or even overcome.

In my own gameplay, I often pair a werewolf with a vampire or spellcaster to balance things out. But if you lean into their nature, werewolves can actually offer some of the most story-rich experiences in the game.

Here are some compelling ways to play a werewolf Sim — whether you embrace the beast or fight against it.

The lone wolf

Story: A wanderer who rejects all packs

This werewolf chooses isolation over belonging. Living in a secluded cabin, they roam the forests of Moonwood Mill, hunting and scavenging under the cover of night.

Avoiding others becomes a survival strategy — especially during full moons.

Goals: Master Fury control, live off the land, and perhaps document your knowledge in a self-written “Werewolf Survival Guide.”

The alpha leader

Story: Rise to power — or build your own pack

Not every werewolf hides. Some lead.

Challenge existing Alphas, recruit strong packmates, and establish your dominance in Moonwood Mill. Whether you rule with discipline or chaos is entirely up to you.

Goals: Lead a powerful pack, enforce your own rules, and control (or clash with) rival groups.

The scientist of the beast

Story: Understanding — or curing — the curse

Instead of embracing the beast, this Sim studies it.

Through science (and maybe a bit of magic), they seek to understand werewolf biology, control Fury, or even find a cure. This path blends logic with desperation.

Goals: Advance in the Scientist career, experiment with serums, and uncover the truth behind lycanthropy.

The hybrid outcast

Story: Torn between two supernatural identities

What happens when one curse isn’t enough?

A werewolf-vampire or werewolf-spellcaster hybrid creates constant internal conflict. Managing multiple supernatural systems becomes both a gameplay challenge and a storytelling goldmine.

Goals: Achieve balance — or descend into instability while trying.

The rockstar of the full moon

Story: Turning chaos into performance

Some werewolves don’t hide their wild nature — they celebrate it.

Channel your Fury into music, performance, or online fame. Transforming mid-show might terrify some — but for others, it’s exactly what makes you unforgettable.

Goals: Build a career in entertainment and turn your feral energy into a brand.

The guardian of the forest

Story: A protector, not a predator

Not all werewolves are destructive. Some see their condition as a responsibility.

Living off the grid, this Sim protects nature, maintains balance, and forms bonds with other supernatural beings.

Goals: Max survival skills, build alliances, and become a quiet guardian of the wild.

The family wolf pack

Story: A legacy shaped by the curse

What happens when the curse becomes inheritance?

Raise a family of werewolves, teach younger generations to control their Fury, and navigate the tension between love and instinct.

Goals: Build a lasting legacy and explore how lycanthropy evolves across generations.

The urban werewolf

Story: A secret life in the city

Blending into urban life is difficult when you turn into a beast under the full moon.

This Sim lives among humans, carefully managing their schedule, relationships, and transformations to avoid exposure.

Goals: Maintain a normal life — or risk everything by revealing the truth.

The werewolf historian

Story: Seeker of ancient truths

Instead of fighting the curse, this Sim tries to understand its origins.

Through exploration, relic collection, and research, they piece together the forgotten history of werewolves and their connection to other supernatural beings.

Goals: Write definitive works on lycanthropy and build a personal archive or museum.

The cursed one seeking redemption

Story: A good soul trapped in a monstrous form

Perhaps the most emotionally compelling path.

This Sim never asked for the curse — and now must live with it. Through discipline, kindness, and self-control, they try to remain human in spirit.

Goals: Minimize harm, help others, and either find a cure — or learn to live with the beast.

Final thoughts

Werewolves in The Sims 4 may not offer the same polished power fantasy as vampires or the intellectual journey of spellcasters — but that’s exactly what makes them interesting.

They’re messy. Emotional. Difficult.

And that difficulty opens the door to deeper storytelling.

Because playing a werewolf isn’t really about becoming powerful —

It’s about deciding what you do when power comes at a cost.
