The Great Indian Society
I am an Indian married woman, and I have pretty much seen the typical Indian society that most privileged women or women coming from big-city backgrounds may not have experienced.
So, I find myself eligible to tell you about an incident that happened to me recently, which I am finding really hard to swallow.
I got married to a man who, in my opinion, is a feminist man. We are living together, away from my in-laws.
Since we are both working individuals, we have distributed our fair share of household chores in a really healthy manner. Why do I call it a healthy manner? Because I hate cleaning chores and don’t mind preparing food. But he does not like to go into the kitchen unless it is absolutely necessary or I am sick. So, we are doing just amazing.
Since my husband does the cleaning chores and loves to clean things, I did find myself really lucky to have a man who does not have a male ego or patriarchal thinking.
But recently, I heard one of our relatives making fun of my husband for doing household chores. And this was not the first time it had happened.

I don’t know why other people, who are not even our immediate family members, have so much of a problem with my husband doing household chores.
Earlier, my husband and I used to get into serious fights just because he avoided telling others that he was doing some chores. It made me angry. Why was he hiding it? Was he ashamed, was I forcing him, or was he under some pressure? I always told him to tell everybody that it is okay to do chores. After all, he is doing his own household chores.
Now, after these incidents, I am really feeling bad for my husband. I feel our society has become so harsh that people cannot see others being happy in their own way of living.
They constantly want you to suffer. They want every woman to suffer just as they did. The funny part is that they have no idea that they have been victims for ages. Now, men are coming forward and standing up for their wives, sisters, and mothers. These people mock them and make them feel that they are the problem.
But THIS IS WRONG. This is so wrong to the extent that these people have no idea what they are doing to society.
They are poisoning society with their vicious thoughts and their intentions towards young women and men.
I hope every man reading this is blessed by God. We are not against each other; we are one society. We have the power to change it. We are the future of this society.
DO NOT let these kinds of people ever make you feel that by helping your wife or mother, you are any less of a man.
