As a PhD in comparative psychology, I had to read many books about behavior.

Nothing to regret about that. It is a cool topic, especially when you study behavior across the animal kingdom to better understand its evolution and cognitive basis.

As you can imagine, there are thousands of books about psychology, the science that studies behavior. However, I've seen many friends buy books from non-professionals selling happiness and other things (in other words, self-help books).

Maybe you did too, and got disappointed about what you learned.

Well, if this is the case (or if you’re just a curious nerdy mind), this article is for you. Based on my experience and readings, there’s one book that I consider the very best for everyone (both academics and the general public).

Here are some bullets about it:

  • An important academic wrote it.
  • It summarizes years of teaching.
  • It is funny.
  • It is science-based.
