I pushed my cart forward at Walmart the other evening. I noticed lights clicking off and I was getting hidden in complete darkness. I tried to shout, but I choked on my own throat.

I left my cart at the empty counter and reached for the main gates. They were all locked. It seemed strange.

I dared not use my voice to shout again for fear of choking again.

I pulled out my smartphone from my pocket and saw it had 5% charge. I had forgotten to charge it for the day. I regretted leaving my charger at home.

I called my wife and told her what I was dealing with.

She said, “Maybe get it charged from the Mobile section while I get help?”

I answered, “Great idea. Thanks, sweetheart.”

It was all dark inside, and I could hardly read signs.

As I was wandering in the dark, my leg got entangled in something, and something heavy crashed onto my head. I was left in deeper darkness.

Meanwhile, my wife, Suzie, called our nearest police station and reported the problem to them as far as she knew.
