The Daily Word #149 | ☠️ Mundane Horrors Challenge☠️
I woke up after an amazing night’s sleep — a full eight hours. The sun was already out — casting its rays everywhere — but my blackout curtains kept its brightness at bay, and I remained slumbering.
So, after I finally opened my eyes and did my “good morning” stretch, I expected a productive day of errands, chores, and creativity. Why wouldn’t it be? I was fully rested. I was excited. I was happy.
I did the dishes, took my dog out for a walk — during which she behaved quite well —and sat down on my comfy sofa and opened up my laptop, ready to write.
That’s when it suddenly hit me. The thing I feared most during these times. The thing that would sometimes keep me awake in the middle of the night, in frustration and dread.
Writer’s block.
The horror!
I stared at the cursor blinking before me. I stared at it so long that I took note of its cadence. The tiny vertical line appeared every second.
It taunted me. It dared me to start typing.
I had nothing.
My brain was empty.
