In the first article of the series, we use Python as a calculator, introduce variables, and take a quick look at the building blocks we’ll use throughout the series: lists, loops, functions, and more.
This intro series is for a few different audiences: those who have never programmed before and you want a real foundation, those who tried it, but gave up, and want another go, or those who want to follow along with the rest of the series.
Quick question. How do you print hello world in Python? Answer:
print("Hello, world.")And you thought programming was difficult!
There’s obviously more to Python than that, but not as much as you might think. Python is intentionally designed to be intuitive. Most single line commands in native Python almost read as English sentences.
Python as a calculator
Python can do basic arithmetic:
print(2 + 3)
print(10 - 4)
print(2 * 7)
print(10 / 4)5
6
14
2.5
