Nature & Architecture in Milwaukee

Mitchell Domes in Milwaukee has long been on my “to visit” list. I finally visited this October. This is a quick photo essay of that morning.

My intention was mainly to photograph the architectural arches of the entrance building. I’m sure inside the biodomes is fascinating, but on this trip I decided not to venture inside. It happened to be a very architecture-heavy few days, so I kept it that way.

The Mitchell Domes were built from 1959 to 1967. Architect Donald L. Grieb won a competition for a new design for the conservatory that was previously here.

I spent less than an hour wandering around the entrance, exploring the shapes, lines, and light.
