THE ALBUM CAFE BEATLES PROMPT #2: WITH THE BEATLES

Accidental Review: With the Beatless by The Beatless

PSA: As I’ve failed to come together with this episode’s writer, I thought, we can work it out! With a little help from my friends, Ralphy and June, we transcribed a day in the life of their road trip into the void which was recorded just outside of Phoenix when Ralphy forgot to turn off his voice memo recorder. It’s a little helter skelter, but there’s nothing to cry, baby cry about. Tomorrow never knows, but regular programming will be back again shortly.

Ralphy: Awwww man, June. Frank Sinatra’s rendition of By the time I get to Phoenix really did my head in. No way I’m turning the radio back on. But I could use some music.

June: Maybe have a feel around under the passenger seat. There might be an 8-track or two?

Ralphy: Oh, this looks cool. With the Beatless. They look like an experimental, avant garde German group with weird haircuts. Beatless? The vibe just screams dark, ambient music.

June: Ok Ralphy, put it on.

Ralphy: “It Won’t Be Long” I don’t know June. This isn’t sounding very ambient and avant garden. Reminds me of that Yeah Yeah Yeah group from the sixties.
