John Hansen PAL asked: “If you could have any animal as a pet except a dog or cat, what would you choose, and why?”
I love dogs. But if I could share my home with any other animal, it would be a macaw.
Birds carry a kind of quiet magic, and loving them comes as naturally to me as breathing. Every species fascinates me, from tiny chickadees flitting through my garden to the hawks soaring overhead. The way birds move through the world makes my heart sing.
And macaws are in a class of their own. All parrots, really. But these guys… their intelligence, their riot of color, that bold personality wrapped in feathers. Totally irresistible! A macaw is that friend with big opinions and a splash of tropical joy.
My busy life has just not allowed me to have one of these guys. I used to travel on business. A lot. And a macaw isn’t a “pop them in the kennel and go” kind of companion. They’re too sensitive, too intelligent, too bonded to their…
