A Place to Be Funny Without Being a Jerk

Member-only story

Ma Baker

--

An inspirational story that absolutely should not inspire anyone.

Author’s Note:
Following the events of this story, Jeremia received yet another Employee of the Month award after management accidentally confused customer complaints with positive feedback. The old granny was later banned from three retirement villages for excessive enthusiasm and the tactical deployment of walking sticks. Joanie eventually passed her law degree, although several of her exam answers contained detailed legal arguments as to why bus drivers should be classified as a form of natural disaster. As for the children, they spent years debating which one had travelled the furthest during the Great School Bus Ejection Incident. At the time of writing, Jeremia remains behind the wheel, grinning cheerfully and insisting that public transport should be “an adventure, not a service.” Authorities continue to disagree.

Disclaimer:
No passengers, pensioners, law students, children, bus drivers, dogs, trains, station wagons, or mobility aids were harmed during the writing of this story. Any resemblance to real bus services is purely coincidental and probably grounds for an immediate internal investigation. Readers are strongly advised not to attempt any of Jeremia’s customer service techniques at home, at work, or on public transport. Professional incompetence should only be performed by trained fictional characters under controlled literary conditions.

Henry Chog chronicles twitching jaws, moral mildew and quiet disasters. Dark absurdity, deadpan unease, and the humour you laugh at before you regret it.
