Introduction

In London’s Docklands, there’s a wharf called Trinity Buoy Wharf (here Buoy is pronounced ‘boy’). It was an empty, derelict site that has been transformed into a community for artists and creatives.

It’s also a home for an original American diner, an events venue alongside the only lighthouse in London, many repurposed shipping containers and other features nautical.

According to Historic UK, Trinity Buoy Wharf:

has to be one of the most bizarre places in London!

It certainly took us by surprise, perplexing us with the weirdest of sculptures we’d ever seen. I’ve tried to make some sense of it all.

Sculptures

Among the many sculptures are the kinetic works of Andrew Baldwin.

We saw a cycling dolphin (main picture), a human with wings instead of arms (above) near to the lighthouse, and yet stranger concoctions of the artistic mind.
