“You’re quite talented at cooking,” my husband praised.
In the era of my mother and grandmother, when there was no internet and YouTube, if you want to cook a dish with some credit, you need to inherit from the recipes of your mother, grandmother, or great-grandmother.
My mother taught me nothing about cooking. After I moved out and got married, I learned cooking via the internet, from pickle and saucing to cooking methods and timing.
However, I never follow all the instructions and steps on the online recipes. I always invent something different by myself intuitively.
Surprisingly, I am pretty successful in that, according to my husband, friends, and family.
Among my recipes, cooking fried rice is my special métier.
Fried rice is a special dish because it originated from Eastern ancient households that fry rice using leftovers such as the remaining cooking ingredients. It is a dish worthy of compliment.
