Overview ¶
The default browser frontend: the pure-Go Wayland backend (wlui). Used on the GoNIX desktop and any Wayland compositor. Build with -tags ebiten to swap in the native Ebitengine frontend instead (see backend_ebiten.go).
cefbrowser is a spike: the same Ebitengine/wlui shell as cmd/browser, but the page area is rendered by an embedded browser engine that paints into a pixel buffer (Chromium via CEF offscreen rendering), rather than by the pure-Go internal/web engine. The shell never touches the engine internals — it only blits the engine's frame buffer into the page region and forwards page-local input — so the same code can later drive a wlui surface on GoNIX.
Build:
-tags ebiten native window (macOS dev); stub engine -tags "ebiten cef" native window + real Chromium (needs the CEF framework) (no tags) wlui (GoNIX) + stub engine
