You can create and edit images directly within your Google Flow projects to use as stand-alone assets or as ingredients for your videos.
Create images in the Google Flow app
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Flow app.
- Tap an existing project or + New.
- In the prompt box, describe the image you want to create in detail.
- At the bottom right, tap the generation type
Image.
- Optional: Add ingredients to your prompt.
- Select your image preferences:
- Aspect ratio.
- Number of outputs you want.
- The model you want to use. Learn more about Google Flow models and supported features.
- Tap Generate

Add references to your prompt
Add characters to your prompt
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Flow app.
- Click an existing project or start a new one.
- In the prompt box, type
@followed by your character's name.- To add your avatar to your prompt, type

- Describe how your character should be used as a reference.

Add visual references to your prompt
You can consistently use the same images for your character and key objects from one clip to the next with the use of ingredients.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Flow app.
- Tap an existing project or + New.
- Add your ingredients in any of these ways:
- To search and select any uploaded asset in your project by name, type
@. - To select uploaded assets in your project, at the bottom, tap Add
.
- To upload files from your device, at the bottom, tap Add
Upload
Media.
- To take a picture and use it as an ingredient, at the bottom, tap Add
Upload
Camera.
- To search and select any uploaded asset in your project by name, type
- In your text prompt, describe how your ingredients should be used as references.
- Tap Generate

Edit & refine images in the Google Flow app
Every time you apply an edit to an image, Google Flow saves the versions together in a Stack.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Flow app.
- Tip: To edit a photo from your device, tap Edit photo.
- In your project, select or upload an image.
- In the prompt box, describe what you want to change.
- Example: Make it look like a watercolor painting.
- Tap Generate

- To compare edited versions with the original image, swipe left or right.
- Optional: Refine your image with more edits.
- Swipe to the version you want to edit.
- Tap Edit prompt.
- Adjust your instructions.
- Tap Generate
