Google Health works with many of your favorite apps and devices, including Apple Health. You can connect Google Health and Apple Health to bring data from your Apple Watch, iPhone, and other iOS health and fitness apps into Google Health. Once connected, data from these sources is stored in your account. You will be able to find this data in the Google Health app and this data may be used to calculate your Google Health metrics.
Connect the Google Health app to Apple Health
Before you start:
- Before you connect to Apple Health, your iPhone or iPad must be connected to the internet.
- You need an iOS device running iOS 16.4 or higher.
- You must sign in to the Google Health app using an adult Google Account. Learn how to move your Fitbit Account to a Google Account.
- Open the Google Health app

- At the top left, tap Connections
Apps and services.
- Under “Add connections” tap Apple Health.
- To start your connection, tap Get started.
- A consent page titled “Sync Google Health with Apple Health” will appear. To consent, tap Agree.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize the connection and grant necessary permissions.
- To allow access to all Health data categories, tap Turn All Categories On.
- To allow access to specific data categories, tap the checkbox beside each data category. Then, tap Allow.
- After permissions are granted to Apple Health, a confirmation page will appear. Tap Done.
Data synced from Apple Health is displayed and used across the Google Health app. Check relevant metrics such as steps or heart rate that would incorporate this data. Tapping a metric often gives more detailed information and historical data.
Tip: You can see all your data on the Health tab in the Google Health app.
If you reinstall the Google Health app, you’ll need to reconnect Google Health to Apple Health and re-grant permissions. For instructions, refer to Connect the Google Health app to Apple Health.
Manage Apple Health data permissions
You can control which data types the Google Health app can access from Apple Health directly within the Apple Health app.
- Open the Google Health app

- At the top left, tap Connections
Apps and services.
- Under “Connected”, tap Apple Health.
- To review permissions and delete data from Apple Health on the Google Health app, tap Manage data and access. Then, follow the on-screen instructions.
- To learn more about how to sync with Apple Health, tap Get help.
- In the Apple Health app, tap the Sharing tab.
- Scroll, then tap Apps
Google Health.
- Review and manage your Google Health permissions.
Troubleshoot Apple Health data syncing
Important:
- To ensure that your Apple Health data is up-to-date, make sure that your Google Health app is updated to the latest version.
- Check third-party apps connected to Apple Health and ensure its permissions are set correctly.
- Review your permissions in the Apple Health app for all connected apps. Confirm that your permissions for Google Health are still active.
If your data is still missing, on your Google Health app, check if Apple Health is still connected without messages that state “New data type available.”
Important: You’ll need to review and grant permissions for new metrics before they are available in the Google Health app.
You can identify new Apple Health data types in the Google Health app through any of the following:
- Devices and connections screen: A "NEW" message appears on the Apple Health card.
- From the Today tab: A "New data types available" alert appears.
- Apple Health settings: A "New data types available" alert appears within the Settings menu.

| “Couldn’t connect with Apple Health” | Try to connect at a later time. Make sure that your iOS device is connected to the Internet. |
- Open the Google Health app

- At the top left, tap Connections
Apps and services.
- Under “Apps and services”, tap Apple Health to access Apple Health’s settings.
- Scroll, then tap Disconnect.
- A warning that states "Disconnect from Apple Health?" will appear.
- Review the warning before you tap Disconnect.
- Previously granted permissions will remain active in Apple Health unless you turn it off. New data will not sync, but permissions are still granted. To remove permissions, tap Open app. You'll be redirected to the Apple Health app.
Upon disconnection, the Apple Health card will be re-listed under “Add connections” in Connections Apps and services.
