So, Euphoria season 3 just ended and tho, it left everyone kinda confused, it also solidified the love for Lexi Howard, played by, Maude Apatow.

Personally, I could not like the character. (I got nothing against Maude. I actually loved her in euphoria)

Why I couldn’t fall for miss Lexi

Lexi was great when the show started. A perfect example of an observer and someone who did not get much attention even tho they were beautiful and intelligent.

Lexi was what I’d call a nerd. While having such preppy, sweet fits, mostly from Miu Miu
Her story, like everyone else, was deep, troubled, and sad. And tbh, her character development was pretty great, too.
but…
The day she started blaming Cassie for being ignored, I checked out.

Now don’t click away. I ain’t defending what Cassie did to Maddie and what Cassie did in season 3.

Here I am talking about the Cassie, who, by Rue was described as someone nice and sweet.
I am talking about the Cassie who had to give up her sport, Figure Skating.

I am talking about Cassie, who was hugged a minute too long by men double her age.
the same Cassie who saw her father being flirted with and her mother drinking to cope. the Cassie who loved too fast only to end up having her nudes posted online by the people she trusted.
this Cassie never asked to be big chested or noticed. she only wanted her dad and her mom. she was the Cassie who hugged Lexi when their father never came to pick them up.

But what did Lexi do?

Lexi took that pain, the shame, the guilts, the loneliness, and wrote a play.

Lexi’s oh so fun play

Lexi started writing the play before she knew about Nate and Cassie. Lexi at the time had already decided to use Cassie’s pain for her gain.

in the play scene, we can see that before the Cassie slander, Maddy was mad as hell that Lexi put her personal life in front of the whole school and, by extension, the whole town.

Lexi saw herself as someone better than everyone else. superiority complex *sighs*

She could see Rue’s pain, but not Cassie? why not?

Because she chose not to. Just so that people would finally notice her and like her.

Just because she wanted to feel good about herself.

How could someone who saw Cassie’s life get messed up in front of her own eyes, do this?
How could she not sympathize with her sister when she could with everyone else?

Now, I don’t want the “but Cassie did this, did that”, IK she did, and as I said, ain’t defending her but Lexi wrote the play before the cheating, before the betrayal.

Lexi ain’t a god, and that’s the point

Lexi, like every other character in the show is messed up and that’s okay Because that was the point. no character was perfect, healthy in the head or happy.
Because that is how real life is supposed to be.
But it feels like we, as people, ignore all that because Lexi humiliated Cassie. Tho we shouldn’t.
Because what she humiliated Cassie for was not something Cassie should have been humiliated about.

Again, ain’t hating on any actor. I love Maude Apatow for her amazing acting. This is just about a show that is fake and the characters in it, which are also fake.

Tho no lie, the play was goooood. Yes, always gonna support Nate slander.
