again, made by me hehe

I have talked in my old post how fashion and literature coincide. Now that I am watching the House of the Dragon, my thoughts have again been confirmed.

When I started watching The Game of Thrones, I noticed this same way of story telling. When Daenerys Targaryen was first introduced, she was shown wearing a flowy dress in a pink/lavender-ish colors made of flimsy silk.

warning: spoilerssss

MOTHER DAENERYS TARGARYEN (SEASON 1)

The dress had braided straps, to show the lack of control she had under her brother. Even her silver hair were flowing down her back. All this indicated the fact that she was still an innocent girl stuck in a situation. A girl who was unable to fight, yet.

This is something that was true with all the characters, but, for now, let’s focus on mother Danny.

her wedding gown was more grey (also because of the rock scene), compared the the whitish pink dress we saw her in earlier.

This dress also was flowy and a bit revealing, showing the stuck stage the character was in, her vulnerability and her lack of decision making power she had.

The designer talked about how the color and the style of the dress was intentional. Also how it blended with the Dothraki style in which she soon was gonna step in. Again, her hair in the 1st season was flowy and let down.

SEASON 2

Season 2 saw a tragic twist of her story. Drogo died. Danny’s clothes this season consisted of a lot of blues and browns, because she was blue (pun intended).

By the start of this season, Danny had been established as a khaleesi already and by then, she had also become the mother of dragonsssssss. Tho now she was leading a starving army in tattered clothes and messed up hair. (not very Targaryen of her)

The browns were from her Dothraki side. the earthy, practical clothes which were now tattered to show her back in a vulnerable state tho, not as much as before because she now had a support system.

Tho the blue dress she got was from Quart, it was still meant to show her losing her husband and a man she grew to love.

SEASON 3

Season 3 saw a more structured look of Danny now. The dresses she started to wear were now a bit more structured with a faint but noticeable dragon scale pattern.

The color was still blue tho, as a tribute to her husband and as the fact that she was the khaleesi who’s kingdom used the expensive blue pigments of that age.

her hair also started seeing some subtle braids, not yet the fully intricate Targaryen braids but it started.

Her gold jewelry (signature of Dothraki) was also changed in favor of silver and now her necklace had a dragon claw/teeth shaped piece (made of brass) which also reflected the collars worn by the slaves around her and the maids around her.

These helped her look more connected to the ones she was there to help. And take help from.

SEASON 4

Season 4 continued with the blues due to the reasons listed before but now, she was a bit more powerful after even capturing Meereen.

Tho, she was still facing issues like politics and the fact that her dragons had grown significantly.

Her hair were now more style unlike the her messy locks from season 2.

One of her most significant looks from that season had a beautiful, grey blue cape. Which made her look like the queen she was.

By the end of this season, we see her sit on the Meereen throne in a blue dress but with white peeking out.

SEASON 5

Season 5 was like BAM. Danny was now in the iconic Targaryen braids with whites again from first season. But this time, not in the same way.

This time, her gowns were highly structured, unlike those silk ones. And many of them had a cape or long slashed sleeves.

Her neckline was usually a v shape. The peeking of her skin was controlled tho, as it showed her want to look attractive but also, show the fact the she was in power.

As I said before, that, she was back in her whites this season. Yk why? It gave her a god-like look. She was untouchable now, in a way.

She was the queen, the mother of dragons, the khaleesi, the liberator.

Her jewelry too was now intricate silver usually crafted like an armor, as confirmed by the designer Michele Clapton

SEASON 6

season 6 again brought back an insane twist. by the end of it, Danny was separated by her armies and had to flee on Drogon.

Tho her sweet child saved her from the pit, he was too injured to take her back once they settled. which led her to be captured by the Dothraki.

There, she was back in the messy look with her white gown now grey from dirt and her hair still messy until she pulled out her signature “burn everything” move.

Then, her clothes got darker. Leather, fur and more noticeably blacks. by the end of season 6, she’s in blacks with silver jewelry and half up hair. Tho in the middle, she had returned to her signature blues for a while.

SEASON 7

Season 7 hurt me a lot. she lost her dragon, who was basically her son to that ice idiot.

This season had gotten significantly darker compared to the other season, even the set. No sun allowed.

The season was also meant to show the winter was coming. and also this season, she finally shook hands with her nephew. (sorry hehe)

Her color palette remained dark this season with her braids getting more and more intricate as she was finally back on her ancestral land and basically her home. (LETS GO TARGARYENSSSSSS)

Also, now, there was more red in her clothes as a tribute to her ancestors and more prominent scales patters on her leather gowns with armor like shoulders and bodice (reminds me of mother Rhaenyra)

SEASON 8

I hated this season, sorry fam. but cant lie that this season gave us pretty dope fits. Danny was now in whites again with red integrated in it. Because she was now in Winterfell with Jon and now it was cold, she was in faux fur (very house stark) and leather coats and gowns and gloves.

also did yall notice, that, she incorporates the elements of the place she inhabits.

Her famous coat from the scene where she enters Winterfell had reds between the whites with her maroonish red gloves covering her hands and her hair tied in her braids.

The look finally felt properly her’s. Her signature whites with her Targaryen reds, and dragon scales on her clothes, silver jewelry and her.

The look was powerful in a way that it felt her. It had all the elements of Danny, which, i love love love.

UNTIL THEY KILLED HER!!!!!!!

THE SAD END

Tho they killed mother Danny, her iconic looks will always be an inspo for my fashion. Also a HUGEEEEEE thanks to the designer Michele Clapton for giving us one of the most iconic wardrobe of 2010s
