I write about the internet industry and the people working inside it. How the tools we all depend on actually got built, and who was behind them.

What layoffs, hiring cycles and platform decisions look like from a programmer's side of the desk. Occasionally the history behind something you use every day without ever wondering where it came from.

Backend engineer. What I can promise is the checking: every number comes from a primary source, and when the record does not say why someone did something, I say so instead of inventing a motive.

Mostly Go and systems, but the good stories do not stay inside one language.

If you have ever inherited a dependency nobody could explain, you will recognise most of what I write about.
