The release version of the mod had craftable tents.
These are scheduled to be removed.
Tents can be obtained from the Camper Villager for 8 Emeralds.

Once you have bought your tent, you can chuck it on the ground.
Tents come in 16 colors, just as the Sleeping Bags.

You can use (default right click) a sleeping bag on a tent to place the sleeping bag in the tent.

Using Shift Right Click on the Tent, you can open it's inventory to see it's contents.
On the left, you can see a Sleeping Bag. This is a special Sleeping Bag-only Slot.
Right next to it is a Slot that only takes a Minecraft Lantern. This will illuminate your Tent and it's surroundings.

The four slots on the right are some extra inventory space you can use to store some items.

Your tent comes with an integrated Crafting table, so you don't have to drag one around everywhere you go.
The crafting table works just the same as the regular one, minus the recipe book.

If a sleeping bag is placed in your tent, you can set your respawn point.
You can then take out the Sleeping Bag if needed and take your it with you without losing your respawn point if you happen to sleep in the Sleeping Bag to pass the night.

Due to a misunderstanding, one of the programmers added in recipe's for the tents on release !
Tents do not have a crafting recipe because they are considered second tier items, and therefore should be a bit harder to get then trough crafting, hence why they are sold by a villager.
Tents do not use BlockStates to render their tent in as that would result in 2176 different blockstates !
