Storage balls are a nice way to compactly store excess items you may get from farming/mining etc. They also form other, more useful items when they are infused with dark energy.

In the recipe above the oak logs can be replaced with cobblestone, moss stone, or netherrack. They will produce their respective storage ball. The balls can also be converted back into their respective block by simply placing a ball in a crafting grid.
