Hi! My name is Zulie Rane, and I'm a product marketer on Medium.

Long before I worked at Medium (like 2018, three jobs and two moves ago), I was the number one Medium fangirl of all time. I believed Medium was the best place for writers to share their stories on the internet.

But I found some areas complicated to understand. How does the recommendations system work? Do publications matter? Does follow for follow work?

I figured out the answers -- and then helped others do the same. I created countless videos, stories, products, and events all about Medium. I grew my own Medium (@zulie) account to over 170k followers. I LOVE hearing from writers that they started writing on Medium because of one of my videos or stories!

In 2024, I reached out to the Medium team to pitch them on a job I knew Medium needed: product education. I believed it way back when, and today I'm even more convinced: for the vast majority of folks who want to share their story, Medium is the best place to write on the internet. But not that many writers know about it. And those who know about it are often confused about how it works, or what they should do to be happy and successful here.

Today, I still make videos and write stories about how Medium works -- but as part of Medium's team. I love working here, and I love bringing Medium to as many writers as possible.
