The Big Power BI SQUEEEEEZE!
I found this post on the r/PowerBI subreddit and thought it was rather interesting:
The post is rather short:
“My previous organization hired front end dev to basically make same dashboards with d3.JS and other data visualizations to save money. And I am barely seeing any power bi — Fabric focused roles in the market that doesn’t ask Data Engineering or Generative AI on the side or expects you to be a master of grafana/tableau/qilk/metabase at the same time. Is anyone else getting the same experience related to BI roles in general.”
Essentially the poster is stating that their entire Power BI team was replaced by front end developers coding in d3.JS, likely with the help of AI. This post generated a huge amount of discussion with over 170 comments and over 160 upvotes. And the consensus is that, yeah, this is really happening out there. There’re multiple people that get into this thread and are basically seeing the exact same thing. One poster mentioned that their entire team got laid off and nobody on that team has found a job in over four months.
The story is effectively that by just creating purely web-based reporting that can be hosted on any web…
