10 Python Concepts Every Beginner Should Know
Learning Python Made Simple
Python’s popularity isn’t accidental. It’s readable, flexible, and powerful enough for everything from simple scripts to complex applications. Whether you’re just starting or refreshing the fundamentals, these ten core concepts will give you a solid foundation.
Let’s walk through them one by one.
1. Creating a Python File
After installing Python from python.org, you can create a script anywhere on your computer. Simply create a file with the .py extension.
For example, name your main script main.py. The .py extension tells the system (and your editor) that this is a Python file that the interpreter will execute.
2. Variables
Variables let you store and reuse values. You create one by writing a name, an equals sign, and the value you want to assign:
Python
name = "Bob"
age = 20You can then refer to these names instead of hard-coding the values every time:
Python
print(name, age)
# Output: Bob 20print(f"Hello, my name is {name}.")
# Output: Hello, my name is Bob.
