Am I Jealous Of My Dog
He Thinks I Should Be
This is a dialogue between:
Percy(P): Canine Extraordinaire/human whisperer
John O(J): A would-be writer and Percy’s servant, at least in Percy’s eyes
P: “Here we go, John. You asked for it. I hope you don’t think that I will show you any mercy.”
J: “No, Percy, I have known(suffered) you long enough not to expect that from you.”
P: “Face it, you are jealous of me. I live in the now, enjoying each moment. Every action of mine is intentional and meaningful; I’m a true existentialist. Camus and Sartre would have happily claimed me as a fellow wanderer. While you, old, old boy, spend much of your days lamenting past failures/foolishness/omissions and worrying about the future. You can’t undo what’s already happened, and with Donald in charge, there might not be too many tomorrows, so it’s a complete waste of time and energy to dwell on them.”
J: “Just because I wait on you hand and foot, making sure you are well fed, get regular exercise, and give you frequent belly rubs, I don’t envy you at all. I have already lived more than five dog lives, have fathered four children, and can connect with people throughout the world.
