Living Aggressively

Before I get into details, I really hope you all aggressively read this particular draft and share it aggressively. July is another month I love. I have an amazing set of people who celebrate their birthdays in July, and it is also the month of rain. Growing up in Benin, July wasn’t a time to drive my mother’s car on the flooded streets of Benin City. But do I like July, yes, I do. And I now have a reason to love it even more. But first, let’s talk about “Aggression”

Agression

My 9–5 involves putting ads on your face, sending notifications from apps on your phone, handling emails you open or ignore, and managing SMS you might not see or blog articles you may never read. My job is to make sure all these channels convert to good money for the company, and I do love my job, but sometimes, like this month, im almost aggressively tired.”

It started with a target at the office, which I was told to drive “agressively,” and before I knew it, every message had “Aggression “ “Aggressive” “Aggressively”. Now Abiodun never says a word to me without adding aggressive. Obim compliments me, “Aggressive,” and everyone in my office has learnt a new word, “Aggressive.”

As we sign off on the month and send the report of a job well done “aggressively, I find myself wondering what August word will be.

“Abi make I start to dey sell wig”

That was one thought that constantly kept crossing my mind in July. Maybe I was tired of capitalism, or maybe I need extra funds to travel to Morocco by December to watch a live football match and scream, or just maybe I have promised one man lambo and im thinking of how I will fulfill my promise. But I must tell you that capitalism has me thinking recently. So my dearest reader, if I do start to sell wigs, “una go buy agreesively? “ What if I start to sell frozen protein? Okay, calm down. What if I start to sell clothes? Oya, what about banana bread? Nor laugh, nah, I’m serious. Please, I need ideas!

The gift of People

Im forever grateful for this. I have been blessed with people. I can’t deny it. And recently, I have had too many moments to think back and thank God for Mama’s and Ese’s constant calls, Rukky and Akp’s banter on the family group, Kevwe’s gentle voice, no matter how much I raise my voice or anger, Obim’s hugs and jokes and stickers and love. Conversations with Amen, John, Eseosa, solace, abiodun, kevwe, and Chinaza. The banter with Sigi, streaks with Tracy, the gist with Big Bear and Ibukun, the Sunday episodes with John, Peace, Tito, Folarin, and Honour. The prayers of Pk and people who have allowed me to bully them in the office. The free ride and free food that come with association with people, and the everyday favour that comes with the gift of people. Im grateful

Abbas’ class

Did I tell you guys that im back in class with the Father, and I have been a good student. We still argue “YOUR WILL VS MY WILL”. I still have tons of questions every day, there is a class, and I take my lessons and exams. I’m recently learning meditation on God’s words and repeating them over and over again. These days, I focus more on verses, and I think I will be the best student by the end of the year.

The stories of Ezra and Nehemiah were the latest courses, and it’s their hearts for me. These men were very alright in Babylon, but they said their hearts were bleeding for the God temple and the gate of Israel. They left behind what they had to fix, which would never benefit their pocket. I also see from their stories how opposition not only rose but stood consistent for years, all to make sure they fail, but a man backed up by God never fails. Dear readers, this is a reminder, God gats you, you shall, you won’t, you can’t, and you does not fail. No matter how many times you fail, pick yourself up and, as Obim would say, “another day to go again.”

August

I will see you in August, which is another of my favorite months, and I will tell you why in the next draft. Till then, aggressively live life, aggressively show up every single day, aggressively trust that God has your aggressive.

Love aggressively
