With a Google Health Premium subscription, the Google Health Coach, built with Gemini, helps you build personalized plans and gives you proactive insights. It can also provide you daily feedback about your progress, and help connect the dots between your data and your daily life.
Tip: To get the latest features, keep your Google Health app updated to the most recent version. Google Health app and Google Health Coach are only available on versions 5.0 and above. Previous versions below 5.0 may experience issues.

Download and install the Google Health app from one of these locations:
- Android: Google Play Store
- iPhone and iPad: App Store
To make sure you can use the Google Health app on your phone or tablet, go to Google Health setup requirements.
You can update the Google Health app the same way you update other apps on your phone. Your device may also automatically update your apps depending on your settings.
If your apps update automatically, check “Updated recently” to know if the Google Health app was updated recently.

Get started
Use the Google Health app to log and track your fitness activities, your sleep, your health data and more. With a paired Fitbit device, Google Pixel Watch, or just your phone, see all your data in one place and track your progress and trends.
With Google Health Premium, unlock Google Health Coach, built with Gemini and made for you. It delivers proactive, personal, and adaptive guidance for the whole you.
At the top of the app, you can manage your connected devices and app settings.

Navigate the app
For users with paired Fitbit devices or Google Pixel Watch, the Google Health app features 4 main tabs: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health.
For users without a Fitbit or Pixel Watch device paired, the Google Health app features 2 main tabs: Today and Health.

Today tabThe Today tab is where you can track the daily metrics that matter to you most and get timely updates.
Customize your Today tab
Get quick access to your most important metrics, including steps, weekly cardio load, readiness, sleep, vitals, and more.
To customize your metrics:
- Open the Google Health app
- On the Today tab
, tap Edit

You can also see your recent exercises or sleep. With Google Health Premium, you can find recent personalized messages from your Coach and respond.
The Fitness tab is where you can track your activities, explore the workout video library, and dive into fitness and activity metrics. Examples are, weekly cardio load, daily steps, distances, energy burned, VO2 max, and more. If you have Google Health Premium, the Fitness tab is where you can co-create, adjust, and follow a personalized, flexible plan based on your goals.
Important: Google Health Premium offers general guidance supporting your fitness journey. If you have cardiovascular, metabolic, or renal disease, or are unaccustomed to strenuous activity, consult a doctor before starting any Fitbit exercise program. You should consider seeking medical clearance before participating in any exercise program offered by the Fitbit Service.
Create a personalized fitness plan (Google Health Premium)
You can now use Google Health Coach to create a flexible, personalized weekly plan that adapts to your challenges and where you currently are in your health journey.
- Weekly targets: You’ll now get personalized weekly targets based on your health goals. You can adjust your goals if a target feels too demanding or causes pain.
- Tailored workouts: Your coach provides tailored workouts to help you reach each target or you can do it your own way with step-by-step guidance.
- Plan retirement: You can download or delete your completed plans.

Adjust your plan & workouts conversationally or manually (Premium only)
You can adjust your plan, targets, and workouts at any time by talking to the coach directly or selecting the “Adjust” buttons. For a flexible experience, you can talk to the coach directly to request changes in your own words. You can also tap Make changes on the Fitness tab. Talking to the coach is best for adjusting to real-life situations, such as:
- “I’m traveling this week, can we adjust my plan accordingly?”
- "The treadmill is busy today"
- "I've injured my foot"
- "Make this workout longer" or "make it easier"
Adjust a specific workout to change one workout recommended by the coach, talk to your coach about the change. You can also tap Adjust on the workout overview screen.
You can also manually edit your workouts:
- Movement details: Change the reps, sets, weights, or duration.
- Exercise list: Add, reorder, or delete individual exercises.
Important: Do not rely on the coach to determine the safety of an exercise if you are in pain. Seek professional advice as needed.
Rest is key to progress. The Sleep tab is home to your detailed sleep data. You can track your sleep duration, awake time, sleep stages, and sleep score calculated by an updated algorithm which gives you a more accurate and complete picture of your rest. With Google Health Coach, connect the dots in your data to get science-backed, actionable guidance helping you wake up ready for what’s ahead.

The Health tab gives you a fuller view of your health and wellness. Dive into your vitals, cycle health, nutrition, medical records, and more.
- Vitals: Previously called Health Metrics. Tracks vital health measurements like SpO2, heart rate variability, breathing rate, skin temperature variation, and resting heart rate from your Fitbit device or Pixel Watch and notifies you if any metrics are outside of your personal range.
- Key Metrics: Use Key Metrics to view weekly and monthly trends that matter most to you. You can fully customize your Key Metrics dashboard by choosing which metrics you want to see and which you don’t. Tap Customize to pick your metrics.
- Health: Includes heart metrics (heart rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and VO2 max), weight, and body fat. Learn more about your vitals.
- Detection & self screening: Get notifications when your heart rate goes above or below your threshold. Get notified for signs of Afib with irregular rhythm notifications, or take an ECG to assess your heart rhythm and share the report with your healthcare provider. - Sync medical records: Connect, sync, and track your medical records all in one place in the Google Health app. If you have Google Health Premium, can ask your Google Health Coach about your synced medical records. - Cycle health: Log menstrual periods and symptoms directly from the calendar. If you have Google Health Premium, you can receive personalized insights from your health coach about your cycle health. Learn more how to track your Cycle health with Google Health.
- Mental wellbeing: Get insights into your overall mental state by tracking mindfulness sessions and logging your moods. Review data about your body’s response to stress with redesigned views of body response and resilience (previously called stress management score). - Nutrition & water logging: To understand your dietary habits and stay on track with your goals, you can set up a calorie target and track your calorie and water intake. Personalized macronutrient ranges for fat, protein, and carbohydrates give you a more flexible way to manage your nutrition. Add friends in the Google Health app
- At the top right, tap your account profile
Friends & family.
- Select the leaderboard metrics you want to share such as Steps and Cardio load.
- Tap Next
Add friends.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to add then tap Send request.
- You’ll be notified once they accept the request, and they’ll be added to your Friends & Family list.

Google Health Coach built with Gemini (Google Health Premium Only)
Google Health Coach uses your health data, including information from your paired Fitbit devices, profile, and third-party apps, to provide personalized, proactive guidance and insights. You can ask your coach various wellness and support questions through the input bar.
Important: The Google Health Coach provides informational guidance, not medical advice. Consult a health care provider before making any health plan changes.
Get personalized messages from Google Health Coach
You will receive messages that adapt to your daily activity.
- Morning: Check your sleep quality and physical readiness for the day.
- Post-workout: Review your performance breakdown and tips for improvement.
- Evening: Get a recap of how your body responded to your activities and progress toward your fitness plan.
What you can ask:
- Data Analysis: Get insights into your sleep, fitness, and health trends.
- Support and troubleshooting: Solve setup, device, or syncing issues.
- App navigation: Find specific metrics and features.
