Thatch is an early building material, crafted from rushes, which is commonly found near sources of water. By itself thatch will easily break, requiring support from a solid block placed below.

Slats are simple support blocks, typically crafted from wood. The primary function is to provide support for thatch roofing. Slats will also pass smoke, items, and heat for blocks such as the cauldron.
